New work-in-progress dark comedy by BBC award-winning writer/performer, Shôn Dale-Jones (Cracking, Floating, Story Of A Rabbit, The Duke)
Shôn is in the process of making a new show, playful and comic ode to a child’s imagination running riot. Shôn, as eager narrator, will guide an audience on a tour around Llandeb, introducing them to places and faces as he goes. A town that celebrates their ninth century Viking invasion in the woods every year; where people sing like Bassey, play rugby in the dark and eat fish and chips every Friday night. He will share a woven web of interconnected stories. He might tell us how a dead passenger on Aled’s coach came back to life, how Mr Griffith, the sports teacher, stripped ManBoy Tarzan when he refused to have a shower after rugby and how Mrs Roberts sold Dic Tomas a sick pony dressed as a horse. He might not. Because. This performance will be improvised – dancing the line between reality and fantasy, making us laugh and wonder, celebrating the pleasure of simple storytelling.
Shôn has been lucky enough to be described as “legend of the Edinburgh Festival” (The Stage); “The Great Welsh Storyteller” (Lyn Gardner, StageDoor); “The most generous of hosts… a mesmerising personality… a gifted storyteller… a natural comic” (The Guardian).
