Join BRILLIG for a full day of moving and making! Participants will be guided through exercises and techniques from the Lecoq pedagogy, with a focus on collaborative devising
Start the day with a variety of physical theatre exercises designed to help performers be BIG onstage, articulate clearly, shift fluidly between characters, and create theatrical spaces using just the body.
In the afternoon, you’ll apply these techniques to the creation of original work. Working in small groups, participants will write, direct, and perform a short piece in response to a prompt.
This workshop is for performers and directors looking to develop skills in devising, physical theatre and character creation.

Participants are encouraged to come wearing comfortable movement clothes. There will be two 10-minute breaks in the morning and afternoon, as well as a 30-minute pause for lunch.

The company’s debut show, Terry’s: An American Tragedy About Cars, Customers, and Selling Cars to Customers has played over 40 performances at the Edinburgh Fringe (Pleasance Courtyard), Brighton Fringe, throughout the Southwest and in France. The show was nominated for Best New Show at Brighton Fringe, as well as for Pleasance’s Charlie Hartill Award, and has received 4 and 5 star reviews from publications such as The Scotsman and Broadway Baby. BRILLIG company members hail from the UK, the US, and France, and have experience in puppetry, dance, circus, classical theatre, and opera, in addition to their common physical theatre training at Lecoq.
