Set in Syria, phenomenal storyteller and guest on The Blindboy Podcast, Clare Murphy (The Spanking Goddess & Other Discarded Tales) weaves a witty satire on the nature of power and stupid kings

In Damascus a king is desperate to keep his throne, a citizen is determined to win a life and Syria is at the mercy of a lie-obsessed king. Girls face monsters, beggars face kings and no one knows which liar will win. The Liar King is an adaptation of the novel Damascus Nights by exiled Syrian writer, Rafik Schami.

Clare blends contemporary reporting and folklore with her playful wit to unmask who has the real power in the world.

An incredible storyteller.”
