Join Sam Grudgings, Stefan Mohamed and the Milk Poetry team for Mild Peril, an evening of strange, surreal and spooky poetry

See in the creepiest month of the year featuring Elizabeth McGeown, M. L. Walsh, a live DJ soundtrack of atmospheric and uncanny sounds, plus a special horror-themed edition of the famous Milk slam.

And remember to always travel in pairs…

Milk Poetry selects the finest, freshest poets from the UK and beyond to produce the most nourishing and eclectic spoken word bonanza you could ever hope for, curated and hosted by Malaika Kegode (Outlier).

Elizabeth McGeown is a Pushcart-nominated poet from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She is a UK Slam Champion, a Northern Irish Slam Champion and has represented the UK in two World Slam Championships. She has been published in journals including Banshee, Poetry Ireland Review and Under the Radar. She was longlisted in the Saboteur Awards 2021 for ‘Best Spoken Word Performer’ and won the Cúirt International Festival of Literature: Spoken Word Platform 2019 and the Cursed Murphy Spoken Word Prize 2019. Her first collection ‘Cockroach’ was published by Verve Poetry Press in 2022.

M. L. Walsh is a performance poet specializing in comic absurdism. Since finding her form in the poetic monologue, she has experimented with the translation of performance poetry from stage to page, and how theatrical technique (and its removal) can modify a text. Her debut collection My Dog Has Never Read This was accepted for publication last year by Verve Poetry Press, with the book’s anticipated publication date being March 2025.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and this year the eggnog has a twist. Ten years ago, our host and director Malaika Kegode moved to Bristol and founded Milk Poetry. In all that time she’s never done a headline set at Milk Poetry, so this year that changes as she’ll take us on a whistle stop tour of the past ten years of her poetry life
