In autumn 2015 The Wardrobe Theatre converted a disused nightclub into a new fringe theatre. We carried out all the work ourselves (backed by an amazing team of volunteers!) and hand-made the bench seating from reclaimed wood, foam and fabric. 10 years on, we’ve had over 4,000 performances in the theatre and over 300,000 bums on the theatre seats – and it’s starting to show. The seats are now old, fraying and becoming increasingly uncomfortable.
We want to make The Wardrobe Theatre a comfy space where every bottom feels welcome, safe and supported and to improve the accessibility of the auditorium especially for those with mobility issues. We can achieve this by working with expert theatre consultants to design, make and install new and high-quality custom theatre seating in the auditorium, but to do it we need your help!
