Dr Strangelove

The Wardrobe Theatre Hosts National Theatre Live: Dr. Strangelove!

National Theatre Live Now Showing at The Wardrobe Theatre
The Wardrobe Theatre, Bristol’s leading fringe venue, is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with National Theatre Live. From April 2025, we will screen NTLive productions, bringing the very best of British theatre directly to our audience.

Matthew Whittle, Artistic Director & CEO of The Wardrobe Theatre, shares his enthusiasm for this addition:
“One of the many joys of The Wardrobe Theatre’s programme is the sheer diversity and range of events we host alongside each other—whether it’s theatre, comedy, music, drag, improv, poetry, clowning, or family shows. Award-winning touring productions share the same stage as fringe and community events. Partnering with National Theatre Live further expands this variety, ensuring there is something for everyone. NTLive is a truly exciting addition to our programme.”

Upcoming Screening:

Dr. Strangelove
📅 Thursday 10th April 2025
Dr. Strangelove is the highly anticipated stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 Cold War comedy. Featuring seven-time BAFTA Award-winner Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge, The Trip) in four iconic roles, the production is written by Emmy Award-winner Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It, Veep) and Olivier Award-winner Sean Foley (The Upstart Crow).

This darkly comic satire follows a rogue U.S. General who triggers a nuclear attack, setting off a surreal race against time as government officials and an eccentric scientist scramble to prevent global catastrophe. Widely regarded as one of the greatest comedies of all time, Dr. Strangelove remains as relevant today as it was 60 years ago. This stage adaptation celebrates Stanley Kubrick’s legacy while infusing the story with fresh energy and wit.
