Season 33 Ep 1 – “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place”

Alistair Bagworth asks Alex Ledecky if he can work at the café. Alex takes him on, despite Alistair being allergic to Alex’s Tamagotchi. In his attic, Alex reveals that he has a secret sideline in Instagram bots, from which he hopes to earn enough money to but his new house on the beach. Believing the room to be haunted, however, Alistair pushes the kill switch. To make amends Alistair offer to steal money from his father.
Having pushed all their rivals of the cliff, Constance Sugar and husband Simpkins can get on with their ambition of getting to 10 Downing Street. Simpkins is feeling guilty that his brother was one of them but Constance persuades him to stop moping about.
Vicky Entwhistle however is a problem as she is still looking for her fiancé Dr Aaron Tempest who was pushed over as well. Constance persuades her that he has left Vicky and has run off with Krissie Johnson to Bali. Vicky believes her and is so upset she feels she needs to leave town, but then settles for moving in with Constance and Simpkins. Simpkins is annoyed but then sees a chance to get a cheap employee and sets Vicky to work in his hotel.
At the bottom of the cliff, Dick, Aaron, Krissie, Jannelle, Roy, Tracey and Rev Peter Knight all survived their fall after clinging onto a sewage pipe. They have been there for weeks but due to the unusual geography of the bay they can’t get back to Newtown and food is running out. Roy is going progressively mad and paranoid and isolates himself from the rest of the group whilst Jannelle has been hoarding Australian snacks. Dr Aaron and Rev Peter agree they are the only responsible people in the group and manage through some quirk of magnetism to make contact with the Alistair…but are mistaken for ghosts. Dick and Krissiemeanwhile are determined to leave and start to reconstruct the sewage pipe in order to climb out.
