A workshop with Sam Dugmore (MANBO, Rocky Stallone), presented by The Wardrobe Theatre
DAY ONE – Creating a Character: a one-day workshop that explores character creation through the physical body
This workshop is inspired by the teachings of Jacques Lecoq and takes a look at different ways to create a character through the exploration of animals, elements and improvisation along with other introductory physical theatre techniques. The workshop is open to everyone with or without theatre experience. No specific knowledge or background is needed, just a desire to explore, play and have fun.
DAY TWO – Physical Storytelling: a one-day physical theatre workshop around creating your own world on an empty stage
Physical Storytelling: a one-day physical theatre workshop around creating your own world on an empty stage. This workshop is inspired by the teachings of Jacques Lecoq. We will explore physical theatre techniques such as mime, clowning, physical character development and audience engagement to build a coherent world onstage using only the body and the voice. This workshop is for the more experienced performer, wanting to develop their physical theatre and storytelling skills. Participants from the first workshop are also welcome to attend.
